Reboot of the In-Person Analytics and Data Summit ( Mar 14-16, 2023)
The Analytics and Data Summit took place at Oracle Conference Center at Redwood City, CA from March 14-16. This in-person event restarted after a gap of 3 years. This event is organized by Analytics and Data Oracle User Community (AnDOUC). This event used to be called BIWA Summit and started in 2007, the first one was in the Oracle office at Reston, VA. It outgrew the size of the facility and moved to then Oracle HQ, at Redwood Shores in 2008.
This year's Analytics and Data Summit, was spread over 3 days, with mainly the Hands on Labs and Product Manager feedback sessions on the 3rd day. This year the top level sponsors were Rittman Mead and Informatica.
The event started on Tue with a Keynote titled "Gut Check - The True Value of Becoming a Data
Driven Organization" by Derek Hayden of OUTFRONT Media. Over the course of the event there were several sessions by presenters from companies like Siemens, Oracle and others. I was part of the opening Panel on Day 2. This Panel was moderated by Roger Cressey and we discussed about:
- The last few years have seen us going through turbulent times, working from home, learning to depend on different communication skills and surviving social changes! - How has recent Oracle developed functionality helped or hindered our progress with respect to implementation of systems in the real world?
- With the advent of Cloud we see the pace of advancement in our technology increase exponentially. - How do you believe we should make decisions about what to invest in to future proof our solutions?
- If anything the pace of change will increase, and the features and functions Oracle offers grow like weeds! - Where do you see future development heading?
The panel turned out to be quite interactive with a fair number of audience questions. The panelists were quite diverse and represented multiple countries of origin.
The Analytics and Data Summit has historically drawn global audience. As shown below, the speakers and attendees came from any different states of the USA and well as many countries in Europe.
